Trio Vents de Lorraine

Friday 12th July 7:30 pm

A talented trio of professional musicians from France. Their unlikely trio, combining instruments from different eras (recorders, flutes and accordion) offers a journey from European Early music (Purcell, Bach, Pergolesi) to South American popular music (Piazzolla, Palmeri, Malaquias, Abreu), giving prominence to dance music and songs. Tickets £14 (£7 under 18) from village PO, Coffee Shop and on-line here.

A truly unique opportunity to hear this trio of professional musicians from France. Caroline Philippe (accordion) Fabienne Ritz (recorders - from sopranino to bass) and Claire Humbertjean (piccolo, flute and baroque flute) met in Metz (Lorraine, France) in 2016, while they were working on music education projects at the Orchestre National de Metz.

Caroline Philippe obtained a first prize in accordion and chamber music in 2010 at the Conservatoire of Saint-Étienne. She also holds a masters degree in music management awarded by Saint-Etienne University. She worked for ten years with the National Metz Orchestra in the education department and has been committed to promoting the accordion since 2006.  Since moving to Brittany in 2022, she has been managing a group of musicians, the Compagnie Hirundo Rustica with the musician Jean-Luc Thomas.

Fabienne Ritz from Metz obtained a first prize in the recorder followed by a teaching diploma in 1993 at the Conservatoire of Metz. Since then, she has been greatly committed to musical education in the north east of France, teaching at all levels, from pre school and primary to other institutions like the National Metz Orchestra and the Institut National et Européen du Chant Choral. She performs in various ensembles from duets to flute consorts in Metz.

Claire Humbertjean is from Nancy and obtained a first prize in flute and chamber music in the Nancy Conservatoire. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Lyon. In 1979 she took part in a national competition and was awarded a place in the European Youth Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. In 1982, she was appointed piccolo soloist of the National Metz Orchestra and has played in various prestigious concert halls in Vienna, Seoul, Venice and Paris. In 2019 she extended her repertoire with the baroque flute.
