Points of interest along the way include, the old railway and its uses, the Bobbin Mill, the effects of Storm Desmond in 2015 which closed the route for 5 years and how the route was repaired  and re-opened. The trail is surfaced with smooth tarmac over the full length, and gradients are very low. It has been designed to encourage access for all. It is well used by people in conventional wheelchairs and mobility scooters as well as people using  other mobility aids. It is suitable for pushchairs.

Donald Angus is a lifelong resident of Threlkeld and former National Park Ranger. Adam Bazire is a volunteer who assists with the ongoing upkeep of the railway path.

The walk finishes at Threlkeld Village Hall, where there is a coffee shop serving drinks, snacks and lunches.
